Steep Holm is home to several Victorian gun emplacements. Take a tour around our many guns, preserved in their original sites to get a feel for how the island would have looked in the past.

In 1941, massive refortification works were carried out by men of 930 Port Construction and Repair Company of the Royal Engineers. Two concrete batteries, searchlight posts, Nissen huts and a huge jetty were built.
