For just £25 per year, your membership helps to conserve and maintain this special place - and includes the opportunity to volunteer on Steep Holm. Discover its rich wildlife, fascinating history, and breathtaking scenery, all while knowing you are making a real difference.
As a Member, you’ll also receive regular updates on the island’s projects and events, keeping you closely connected to Steep Holm throughout the year.

*The Trustees of the Kenneth Allsop Memorial Trust Limited reserve the right (at its absolute discretion) to refuse membership if (in the opinion of the board) membership would not be in the best interests of the charity or its objectives.
How does the membership work?
When you join as a Member of Steep Holm Island, you pay an annual fee of £25. This helps to support the conservation and upkeep of the island. We’ll also keep you updated with news and events about the island throughout your membership.
You must be a member to volunteer on the island and be covered by our insurance.
As a member you can also participate in our lottery with a chance of winning £50 (per £20 annual ticket) 4 times a year. Contact our membership secretary for a lottery form.
How do I book my trip?
Once you become a Member, you will receive instructions on how to book your visit. Trips are subject to availability and weather conditions, so we recommend booking early to secure your preferred date.
Can I bring guests with me on my visit?
Yes, you are welcome to bring guests and they will need to pay the standard visitor fare and provide their contact details for the boat company separately.
How long does the membership last?
Membership lasts for 12 months from the date you join. We will automatically review your membership, so you can continue enjoying your benefits and supporting the island.

Become a volunteer
Volunteers help maintain Steep Holm, from clearing vegetation and restoring historical sites to assisting with museum curation and visitor services. Roles in admin, marketing, and finance are also available - whatever your skills, there’s a place for you.
