About the Trust
The Kenneth Allsop Memorial Trust was formed to perpetuate the memory of a remarkable pioneer journalist and conservationist who died in 1973. The Trust was able to buy Steep Holm by public subscription in 1976. It is a registered charity (no. 270059) that seeks to preserve and enhance the island’s natural beauty and landscape, together with its antiquities, wildlife and scientific interest, for everyone to enjoy.

The island is managed by a small group of Trustees who look after the day-to-day administration of the island. The Trust’s President is Simon King OBE, the wildlife filmmaker, television presenter and enthusiastic promoter of nature conservation and natural history.

Membership of the Trust is open and new members can be actively involved in the care of Steep Holm or just quietly supportive. Legacies and donations are also welcome.

The Trust is open to offers of sponsorship for its activities on the island. Please contact the trustees for details of the latest opportunities.
There is the benefit of regular newsletters, as well as the opportunity to attend the Annual General Meeting and lunch, which is held in Weston-super-Mare in September.
